Summer's here, and the pool is calling! Whether you're a seasoned pool owner or a first-timer, ensuring the safety of your kids and pets around the water is paramount. A backyard pool should be a source of joy and relaxation, not anxiety. Let's explore some essential pool safety tips to help you create a safe and fun environment for everyone.

For the Little Swimmers (and Non-Swimmers!):

  • Supervision is Key: Never leave children unattended near the pool, even for a moment. Active supervision means putting away distractions like phones and books and keeping your eyes on the water.
  • Teach Swimming Skills Early: Enroll children in age-appropriate swimming lessons as early as possible. Familiarity with the water and basic swimming skills can be life-saving.
  • Establish Clear Rules: Set and enforce strict rules, such as no running near the pool, no diving in shallow areas, and no pushing others into the water.
  • Fences and Gates: Install a sturdy, self-latching fence around the pool with a gate that is difficult for children to open.
