It's Closing Time

It's time to bid the swimming season a warm goodbye, and close your pool for yet another winter.  If you're a little unsure about how to prepare your pool for winter's chill, why not let a pool service professional from Clearwater Pools do all the dirty work for you? After all, no one knows pools and equipment better than we do. And since your pool was no small investment, this is an important job that should always be done carefully. Having us tuck-in your equipment for its winter nap makes sense.

We'll recognize and handle all the critical details- like getting all of the water out of every line to help prevent freeze damage, and more. It's like buying very inexpensive insurance. It also buys you time.  Avoid nasty surprises next spring. You can be off enjoying time with your family while we take care of everything.

A good winterizing program is essential to assure that your pool will be in  top shape and ready for swimming next spring.

After all, why worry about it? Arrange for us to close your pool for the season. Call us today 753-0100

Closing Your Pool

It's very important that your pool is winterized properly, thereby protecting your pool and equipment and making next spring's opening routine and trouble-free. As water temperatures decrease, so does chemical demand. However, filtration, chlorination and PH control should continue until closing. The following method makes it easy to have sparkling clear water on that great spring day when you open your pool.

SPECIAL NOTE: Do not drain your pool completely unless recommended by the pool builder, or manufacturer.

Consult with Clearwater Pools service team for all mechanical winterizing techniques.

Before closing:

  • Backwash and clean filter's sand (or Zeobrite)
  • Test PH; if necessary, adjust to 7.2-7.8
  • Test Alkalinity, if necessary, adjust to 80-120 ppm
  • Vacuum Pool and brush walls and bottom Scrub around the top of the pool liner with Pool Protect Amaze and a scrub brush
  • Remove the ladder (and diving board for inground pools), and store for the winter
  • Super chlorinate
  • Lower water level and drain lines (for inground pool add anti-freeze to lines)
  • Winterize all equipment as per manufacturer's directions
  • Remove the skimmer basket and controls and store for the winter Insert foam block into mouth of skimmer and add an empty bottle to skimmer to allow for expansion
  • Use a well-fitted winter pool cover for best results.

Clearwater Pools carry the Aquapro Winterizing Chemical Kit that includes all chemicals needed to close your pool properly. All surplus chemicals should be properly sealed in a cool, dry place CAUTION: Improperly closed pools and equipment can result in severe and costly damage.
